Royal Enfield launches 350cc & 500cc Thunderbird X

Written by Parichay Malvankar

Very happily churning steady sales numbers, Royal Enfield time and again keeps refreshing their product portfolio. Now, the brand has launched the Thunderbird X range of motorcycle which they call a new ‘Factory-build Custom Bike’. The Thunderbird X is targeting the more urban & young buyer set and will be available in both 350cc & 500cc engine options. For differentiation, the Thunderbird X will be available in Orange or Blue colours for the 500X & Red or White for the 350X.

The Thunderbird 350X is priced at INR 1.56 lakh while the Thunderbird 500X is priced at INR 1.98 lakh, ex-showroom. With a marginal premium over the standard model, the Thunderbird X makes a lot of sense with different styling highlights.

The Thunderbird was first launched in 2002, and has been a popular highway cruiser. The Thunderbird X now wants to carry a ‘custom-cool’ image for the same type of buyer audience.

Features on the motorcycles include bright colours, alloy wheels, tubeless tyres, gunslinger styled seat, new grab rail, shortened rear mudguard, blacked-out theme, new flat handlebar, front & rear disc brakes.

Powering the Thunderbird 350X is a 346cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, twinspark motor producing 19.8 BHP of power @ 5250 RPM and 28 Nm of torque @ 4000 RPM. The Thunderbird 500X is powered by a 499cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled motor with fuel-injection producing 27.2 BHP of power @ 5250 RPM and 41.3 Nm of torque @ 4000 RPM.

The bike also features a small gear capsule.

The old Thunderbird range will continue to be on sale.
