Asia’s largest motorbike festival, the India Bike Week, concluded with a full house in the hill station of Lonavala. The tickets to the extravagant motorcycle event were entirely sold out for the first time. Despite the unkind weather that loomed over Aamby Valley, the turn-out was phenomenal. Motorcycling enthusiasts from across the country flocked to the small town of Lonavala to witness the event. For two days straight, India Bike Week, popularly known as IBW, was home to the entire biking fraternity. Here is a quick tour of the event that took away the breath of bikers from all over India.
Thumping Success on Day 1
The India Bike Week 2021 kicked off at 3 pm on Saturday the 4th of December 2021. The event commenced with screening “18,603 FT – Harleys on the Roof of The World”. Big Trip Virtual – Powered by Petronas Sprinta screened the event, which was a full house. Following this Maxwell Hazan, addressed the gathering. Hazan has specially curated a video exclusively for IBW 2021. Here the world-famous custom motorcycle builder gave a few technical tips and tricks, along with a virtual tour of his workshop in Los Angeles.
Sarthak Chavan, Akshat Hupale and Darshit Chavan represented the Future of Indian Motorsport at the IBW. While Aditya Kumar addressed the crowd about ‘Slow Riding Across South America’. Sagar Sheldekar, an avid motorcyclist, motorcycle journo and Instagrammer, also interacted with the crowd at the event. The Howling Dog Bar, ensured biking clubs from across the country battled against each other in games designed for interactions. And there was also an Open MIC session with Vijay Thomas.
Hero Motosports rider CS Santosh was live with the new Hero XPulse 200 4V, while Harley-Davidson introduced their new Sportster S. Kawasaki also displayed the recently launched Kawasaki Z650RS Retro Classic motorcycle. Honda also grabbed the opportunity to launch the new Honda CB 300R as well as the Anniversary Edition of the Honda H’ness CB350. IBW also offered Ashish Raorane and MIDIval Punditz the IBW Honor Roll – Powered by Petronas at the event. Bike Mart had its stall ready for every biker’s dream while stunters stunned the audience with their antics in the Stunt Zone.
High Revving Day 2
On the final day, the gates opened in early noon with Club and Brand parades. Amit P. Kapani, a.k.a. #KRAZZYKAPPU spoke about his off-road motorcycles while father-son duo Swaranjit and Kabir Bajaj addressed the crowd about their love for cruisers. Debashish Ghosh, a.k.a Debu, also talked about the 2015 HOI ASEAN Corridor Ride with his friends. The late Gaurav Jani, an international award-winning documentary maker and motorcycle touring rider, was offered a tribute by his friends from the 60 kph Motorcycling Travel Club.
