Hyundai has given its flagship SUV a significant facelift for 2022. The new Palisade receives a fresh new exterior and interior design. Additionally, it also gets new convenience and driver assistance systems. The flagship SUV will also get a new, more rugged XRT version.
The new Palisade gets a wider cascading grille with parametric shield elements within it. The new lighting package includes new vertically stacked LED composite lights that frame the vehicle’s grill. The SUV’s lower front skid plate also gets new stroke detailing for a more rugged look. At the rear, the Palisade still has the same wide stance with vertical LED taillights and gets new lower fascia skid plate details. New 20-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels fill up the wheel arches for a more complete look. The SUV also gets a new colour option – Robust Emerald.
In addition to this, the new rugged XRT model gets a new rugged front and rear fascia with skid plates. The sides also get a new rugged lower door trim. Interiors get a black leatherette upholstery and a conventional power sunroof. New dark-finish, rugged 20-inch alloy wheels complete the look.
Changes to the new Palisade’s interiors include a new steering wheel, seats and upholstery. The flagship SUV also features the brand’s Ergo-motion driver’s seat for added comfort on long drives. Meanwhile, the second row of the vehicle gets wing-out headrests and angle-adjustable armrests. With the new Palisade, Hyundai will offer an 8-seat configuration, which is a first for the brand. In addition to this, another first for the brand is heating for the third-row seats. The Calligraphy model also gets acoustic-laminated rear door glass.
The new Palisade features a new high-resolution 12-inch infotainment display. Also new for 2022 is the latest version of the Hyundai Digital Key, Digital Key 2. With the Digital Key 2, one can leave the car keys behind and use their iPhone, Apple Watch or supported Android phones. The devices will be able to lock, unlock and even start the car.
The Palisade is the first Hyundai vehicle to offer WiFi hotspot capability. Another first for the brand is the full-display, digital rearview mirror. The digital mirror allows the driver to clearly see behind without obstructions like passengers and cargo. As for the charging ports in the car, USB-C ports replace USB-A ports and offer faster charging up to 3 amps. Additionally, the wireless charging speeds have gone up from 5W to 15W.
The Palisade comes with 9-airbags as standard. These include dual front, side-front and rear, driver’s knee and roll-over sensing side-curtain airbags. The model also gets many driver assistance features such as – Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA), and Safe Exit Assist (SEA) and many more.
