Hyundai’s electric sedan Mistra has 520 km range

While most motor shows around the globe have been cancelled, including the most recent SEMA in Sin City, China the epicentre of the COVID-19 pandemic is hosting the Guangzhou Motor Show 2020, where South Korean manufacturer Hyundai has unveiled its new electric vehicle ‘Mistra’. The Mistra will also be launched in an electric version alongside the internal combustion engine designed specifically for the Chinese market and it is expected to be launched next year. 

The Hyundai Mistra measures 4,780 mm in length, 1,815 mm in width, 1,460 mm in height, 2,770 mm of the wheelbase and is only slightly smaller than the Hyundai Sonata. Powering the new Mistra is a 1.8-litre naturally-aspirated four-pot petrol that makes 143 PS of power and 176 Nm of torque. Another option is a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine that makes 170 PS of power and 253 Nm of torque. 

The all-electric version of the Mistra is powered by a 184 PS / 310 Nm electric motor coupled to a 56.5 kWh battery pack that is able to return a claimed driving range of 520 km on a single charge. The battery can be recharged from 30% State Of Charge (SOC) to 80% SOC in a little over 40 minutes but slow charging takes 9 hours for the batteries to get full. 

On the outside, the new Hyundai Mistra mid-size sedan features an imposing front fascia with chrome-finished grille, a wide air dam with chrome accents, bumper-mounted fog lamps, a muscular bonnet with raised ridges and Hyundai Creta inspired headlamp and marker lamps. The Mistra features a strong shoulder line, dual-tone alloy wheels, a sloping roofline, chrome accents on the sides. 

On the inside, the Hyundai Mistra claims best-in-class interior space, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster along with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with the latest generation connectivity features and a panoramic sunroof. The Mistra also gets various driver assistance features such as navigation based smart cruise control, highway driving assistance, forward collision avoidance assistance, surround-view monitor and rear cross-traffic alert.
