Hyundai’s Drive4Progress – Employment for 250 women drivers

Hyundai’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF) has announced that 250 trained women drivers from HMIF’s ‘Drive4Progress’ initiative are receiving employment in Delhi NCR. India’s
largest EV ride hailing service, BluSmart and Navjyoti NGO have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the employment of the trained women drivers.

Hyundai’s Drive4Progress

Hyundai’s philanthropic arm HMIF has been offering a driver skill development initiative under the social initiative ‘Drive4Progress’. The initiative provides professional driver training and employment opportunities for youth. Since its launch in October 2023, the project aims to offer its benefits of training and employment to 1500 youth in the next three years. This also includes a minimum of 30% women, from Haryana, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Telangana.

Under the MoU, HMIF’s ‘Drive4Progress’ initiative offer training to women who choose to become professional drivers through Navjyoti NGO. The training program offers safe driving practices and road safety. In addition to this, the program also offers soft skills, customer service as well as vehicle maintenance.

Navjyoti is the implementation agency for the program, which will help create a talent pool of trained drivers from Below Poverty Line (BPL). Furthermore, HMIF and Navjyoti will support the participants to obtain a permanent driving license. The students graduating from the Drive4Progress program will also be certified by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).

The certification will be issued post successful completion of training and assessments. In addition to this, the initiative also intends to offer employment for a minimum of 70% of the beneficiaries. Also, the participants of the initiative will be capable of self-employment opportunities.

BluSmart Employment Opportunities

Under the terms, BluSmart will offer employment opportunities to 250 skilled women drivers. The women drivers from the Drive4Progress initiative with a successful completion of the 45-day training, will be eligible for employment within BluSmart’s dynamic workforce. Thanks to this collaboration gender inclusivity and empowerment in the transportation
industry will be promoted. All the three participants also share the vision of promoting gender equality, economic empowerment and social inclusion.
