Hyundai could be planning to introduce the sibling to the Kia EV9 soon in the international market. The brand is likely to call this 3-row electric SUV the Ioniq 9, which is also likely to serve as an electric vehicle alternative to the Hyundai Palisade. The Ioniq 9 is likely to be based on the Hyundai Seven concept and could be as large as the Kia EV9.
Hyundai Seven Concept, Renamed?
According to reports, the brand is currently testing the new electric vehicle in the United States. However, sources report that the brand has “skilfully concealed” the test mule so that the production-spec design is not revealed. But, the large greenhouse and certain other exterior features from the Hyundai Seven Concept are likely to be carried over to the production-spec model, reveal reports. In addition to this, sources also reveal that the brand is working towards making the production model unique and will certainly have differentiations, when compared to its concept.
What to Expect?
The Ioniq 9 is likely to make its debut sometime in 2025 and is likely to underpin Hyundai’s E-GMP architecture. The Ioniq 9 is likely to come with the same powertrain from the Kia EV9 which is also underpinned by the Electric Global Modular Platform. The EV9 comes with a 215 Hp electric motor for the rear-wheel drive models and 379 Hp of power for the all-wheel drive models. Needless to say that the higher-spec model comes with a larger battery and offers more range.
Speculation is that Hyundai could use the same powertrain from the Kia EV9 without making any changes to it. The 99.8 kWh battery on the top-spec models returns a range of around 450 km on a single charge, and the Hyundai Ioniq 9 is likely to return a similar range. As the brand might lift the powertrain and battery straight from the Kia EV9 the Ioniq 9 is likely to debut as soon as 2025.
