Hyundai unveils 2021 Elantra ‘N Line’ in design renderings

Hyundai Motor Company has unveiled the new Hyundai Elantra N Line in design renderings along with the details of the brand’s latest performance iteration of the 2021 Elantra that was introduced a few months ago in the international market. The brand has also revealed that the N Line model will go on sale in the international market in the coming weeks.

Hyundai unveiled the new 7th generation Parametric Design Elantra which already features an aggressive design language and comes with sharp cuts and crease lines and the new N Line model enhances this geometric design all while distinguishing itself by having a lower and wider stance and an N Line badging on the signature cascading grille. The front apron has also been revised with sharp motorsport-inspired air intakes that flank the front bumper.

On the profile, the Elantra N Line features specific side skirtings, flared wheel arches, 18-inch alloy wheels, one inch more than the standard and larger brakes which not only enhances the aesthetics but also increases its stopping power. The cosmetic upgrades further continue to its wing mirrors and N Line window accents which are all finished in gloss black.

On the rear, the Hyundai Elantra N Line features a revised rear apron with geometric inserts on the bumper, a motorsport-inspired diffuser, rounded single twin exhausts, gloss black finished lip spoiler on the rear deck along with an LED combination tail lamp unit integrated with H-shaped light bar that runs from one end to the other and ‘ELANTRA’ moniker highlighted on the tailgate.

Hyundai has not revealed details of the Elantra N Line’s powertrain but we speculate that Hyundai has purposefully employed the larger brakes to tame an engine more powerful than the standard. Unconfirmed reports also suggest that the Elantra N Line is likely to come with a 1.6-litre Turbocharged Petrol engine that makes in excess of 200 Hp of power matched to a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

While the standard model  comes with a new 1.6-litre Turbocharged Gasoline Direct injection (TGDi) petrol engine with a mild-hybrid system, with a 32 kW electric motor and a 1.32 kWh lithium-ion battery, producing a combined output of 139 Hp of power and 264 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and optionally a 2.0-litre four-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine.

Hyundai already offers several N Line variants along with the Veloster N, i30 N and i30 Fastback N in select markets the brand may not bring the N Line package cars to the Indian market anytime soon.

While the ‘N’ models bring full performance capability, it is important to note that the ‘N Line’ models add performance-inspired elements to base model vehicles, equivalent to what M Sport package and AMG Line is for the German carmakers, BMW and Mercedes-Benz, and the ‘N Line’ models are not as extreme as the full-fledged ‘N’ models.
