Hyundai sold of 5.68 lakh cars in India in FY 2022-23

Hyundai Motor India Limited has announced the sales figures for the FY 2022-23. This was the Korean carmaker’s best ever year in India in terms of total volume – both domestic sales and exports combined. Further, just the domestic sales volume was also its highest since the company started selling cars in India.

What do the numbers denote?

For FY 2022-23, Hyundai India reported 7,20,565 units. These are the combined numbers of total company sales which includes both domestic and exports. These figures are 18 percent higher that the previous year (Y-o-Y growth). Further, the carmaker also said, of these 7,20,565 units, 5,67,546 cars were sold in the domestic market. This was the best ever performance of the Korean carmaker since its operations commenced in India.

The leaders amongst the models include the new Creta, Venue, Alcazar, Tucson, Aura and the Grand i10 NIOS.

Hyundai India’s Chief Operating officer Tarun Garg commented on this milestone that these numbers are in thanks to the carmaker’s efforts at launching 7 products in 2022-23. These include the Hyundai Tucson, Venue, Venue N Line, the all-electric Ionia 5, Grand i10 NIOS, Aura and lastly the new Verna. According to Garg, these products set the pace for their respective segments and allow the carmaker to push these products to the new-age Indian car buyers.

Hyundai India March 2023 : Figures

For the month of March 2023, Hyundai reported 50,600 units of domestic production and 10,900 units were exported. When compared to the preceding month, the growth was 13.5 percent for the exports, 2 percent for exports which put the total growth at 11.2 percent combined.

2023 Hyundai Verna : More Details

Hyundai has recently launched the new Verna in India. Now, deliveries of the sedan have also commenced. Let us take a look at the review of the 2023 Hyundai Verna.

The Hyundai Verna starts from INR 10,89,900. It is available in four variants – EX, S , SX and the top-of-the-line SX(O). In terms of engine options, the Korean carmaker is offering buyers a choice of 1.5-litre NA engine or a 1.5-litre Turbo petrol. However, there are no diesel engines on offer.

Hyundai Verna comes with two 1.5-litre petrol engines. First, is the 115 HP naturally aspirated (NA) unit and second is the 160 HP turbocharged unit. The former is only available with lower variants, while the latter will serve the higher variants. While both engines will come with manual and automatic options. The standard gearbox is a 6-speed manual gearbox. Then the NA unit will get a CVT and the turbo-petrol will get a DCT as an option.
