Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has released its sales report for January 2023. The Korean carmaker posted a total of 50,106 unit sales for the given month. This figure is up from 44,022 units during the same period last year. The YoY sales growth translates to 14 per cent. The South Korean automaker is now second in the manufacturers’ volume table. Meanwhile, in terms of MoM growth, it posted a healthy 29 per cent.
Unsurprisingly, Hyundai Creta was again the top seller. It topped the sales charts with a total of 15,037 units against 9,869 units in January 2022. This translates to a YoY growth of 52 per cent. The Venue came second with 10,738 units sold. This figure is down from 11,377 units during the corresponding period in 2022 with a YoY volume decline of 6 per cent.
The Grand i10 Nios and Aura got their respective facelift update recently only. The former posted 8,760 units last month against 6,841 units during the same period in 2022 with a YoY sales increase of 28 per cent. The i20 hatchback clinched the fourth position with 8,185 units against 6,505 units with a YoY growth of 26 per cent.
The Hyundai Alcazar three-row SUV based on the Creta came in sixth position. The SUV commanded a total sales of 1,537 units against 3,168 units during the same period twelve months ago. The Verna midsize sedan was the seventh most-sold SUV with 999 units sales. This was against 1,622 units with a year-over-year drop of 39 per cent.
With the demand rising high, the sales of SUVs are breaking new records. Hyundai is increasingly expanding its sales specifically in the SUV segment. Creta being one of the top sellers of Hyundai is leading the market and bringing in high volumes of sales for the brand. Now with the updated Verna in the lineup, we expect Hyundai to garner more sales in the coming months.
