South Korean car manufacturer, Hyundai, has released its sales report for May 2023. For the given period, the company sold a total of 59,601 units. This includes 48,601 units for the domestic market and 11,000 units as exports in May 2023.
For context, the cumulative sales for the carmaker stood at 51,263 units in May last year. This figure included domestic sales of 42, 293 units and an export of 8,970 units. On average, Hyundai posted a Y-o-Y growth of 16.26 per cent.
Apart from its current portfolio in the country, Hyundai is planning to launch its upcoming SUV, the Exter. We will get to see the SUV in India in July 2023. The Exter will come in seven variants and two powertrain options. The bookings for the SUV are already underway. Interested customers can book their interest by paying a token amount of INR 11,000.
Hyundai mentioned that they are glad to post healthy double-digit sales growth for the month of May 2023. The top sellers for the brand were Hyundai Creta and Hyundai Venue. In fact, the recently launched all-new Hyundai VERNA too clocked strong numbers. This is not a surprise to see SUVs propelling the maximum sales for Hyundai. Not just Hyundai, but a host of other carmakers as well, SUVs are now selling in huge numbers. Hyundai Creta is the most-sold SUV in the Indian market. The nameplate has been a top choice of customers across 1st-tier, 2nd-tier and 3rd-tier cities alike.
Hyundai’s penetration in the Indian market is a major advantage. And thus, customers residing in remote locations of the country can now enjoy Hyundai’s exciting range of products. With the Exter, Hyundai will aim to take on the micro SUV segment thus further boosting its sales numbers.
