Hyundai sold 55,287 cars in March ’22

South Korean automotive giant Hyundai has officially released its annual sales report for the month of March 2022 in India. The report includes the total domestic, exports, and cumulative sales conducted by the country’s second-largest automaker for FY 2021-22. Based on the info from the report, Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL) registered cumulative sales of 55,287 units. Additionally, the automaker recorded cumulative sales of 6,10,760 units in 2021-22, compared to 5,75,877 units from 2020-2021.

In terms of domestic sales, HMIL sold a total of 4,81,500 units in 2022, registering a 2.1% of growth. For comparison, the automaker sold a total of 4,71,535 units during FY 20-21 for the entire Indian market. Last but not the least, HMIL exported 1,29,260 units from FY 21-22, marking a 23.9% of growth. This is a significant jump as the automaker exported 1,04,342 units during the same timeframe in 2021.

HMIL is one of the country’s oldest automakers which contributes a significant volume of sales thanks to its portfolio. With 12 car models under its belt, HMIL aims to cater to every type of customer across several automotive segments. Its portfolio includes the Santro, Grand i10 Nios, all-new i20, i20 N-Line, Aura, Venue, Verna, All-New Creta, Alcazar, Elantra, Tucson, and Kona Electric. The automaker has its manufacturing plant located in Chennai, which acts as the production centre for all its cars.

Catering to the Indian and global markets, HMIL aims to add significant value to its products via the export chain. HMIL currently exports its vehicles to around 85+ countries across the globe, such as Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, Australia, and the Asia Pacific. Meanwhile, in India, HMIL has established 555 dealerships with more than 414 service points and an R&D facility in Hyderabad. Hyundai is actively competing with Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors to retain its position as the largest automaker in India.

In India’s used car market, Maruti Suzuki’s Swift Dzire, Eeco, and Ertiga are amongst the top-3 most popular vehicles in demand. The insights also went on to show that Maruti Suzuki is currently dominating the used-car market with eight of its models.
