Hyundai has rejigged the variant line-up in the brand entry-level model the popular Hyundai Santro. The new variant that has been launched is in offered in the CNG powertrain and have been renamed from Magna CNG and Sportz CNG to Magna Executive CNG and Sportz Executive CNG. Both the new trims are based on the Magna CNG variant but the Sports Executive CNG will come with added features over the Magna Executive CNG. The BS6 compliant Hyindai Santro hatchback starts with a price tag of INR 4.57 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi.
The brand will be axing the 2 DIN audio system, 2 speakers, roof antenna and steering mounted audio and Bluetooth controls from the Magna Executive CNG trim. On the other hand, the Sportz Executive CNG trim will see additional features such as a 17.14-cm touchscreen infotainment system that offers smartphone-based navigation, electrically adjustable ORVMs with turn indicators and an auto-dimming IRVM.
In the engine department, the Hyundai Santro is powered by a BS6 compliant 1.1-litre 4-cylinder, 12-valve/3 valves per cylinder SOHC petrol engine producing 69 PS of power and 99 Nm of torque matched to a 5-speed manual gearbox or an optional AMT gearbox. In the Bi-Fuel (Petrol and CNG) version which is available in the new trims mentioned above, the Santro makes 59 ps of power and 84.3 Nm of torque paired to the same 5-speed manual units. In terms of safety, the Santro comes with standard features such as a driver’s side airbag, ABS with EBD and is likely to be updated soon with rear parking sensors and speed alert system.
In other news, Hyundai has registered a cumulative sales of 59,913 units in the month of September 2020. The brand registered domestic sales of 50,313 units and exports of 9,600 units. The brand shows a 23.6% growth in the month of September 2020 over the same period last year. The cumulative growth for the period is 3.8%.
