Celebrating 1 year of existence in the Indian market, Hyundai’s Santro hatchback now has a new anniversary edition. Although this is the 1st anniversary edition of the new-generation Santro, the nameplate has been in India 1998 and is a much loved car by the masses. The 2019 Hyundai Santro anniversary edition is based on the Sportz variant of the hathback, and is available in both manual and AMT gearbox options. Hyundai will offer this limited edition model in teal and white body colour options. The Santro anniversary edition manual variant costs INR 5.16 lakh while the AMT variant has been priced at INR 5.74 lakh (ex-showroom).
Feature additions on the exterior of the Santro anniversary edition include new gunmetal grey wheel caps, black painted door handles, black painted ORVM and anniversary edition badge on the tail gate. Inside, you get black interiors with teal contrast elements, AC vents with teal accents and new seat fabric upholstery. Other additional accessories on offer on this version include gloss black roof rails, rear chrome garnish and side body moulding in black.
The Hyundai Santro is powered by a 1,086cc, 4-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol motor producing 69 PS of power and 10.1 kgm of torque matched to a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT gearbox. The Santro also comes in a CNG variant where the same engine produces 59 PS & 8.6 kgm on CNG mode, but this variant comes only matched to a 5-speed manual.
The Santro comes with standard safety features such as engine immobilizer, driver airbag, ABS with EBD and child lock apart from the mandatory seat belt reminder, speed alert warning and reverse parking sensors.
The Hyundai Santro rivals the likes of Renault Kwid, Maruti Suzuki Alto and Datsun Go. Without any doubt, the Hyundai Santro is the most superior product in terms of built and part quality overall compared to competition.
