Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has unlocked a new achievement as the brand’s state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Sriperumbudur, Chennai rolled out the fastest-made 3 Millionth Made in India export car – a ‘Hyundai Aura’. The milestone car is for export to the Colombian market and is badged as ‘Hyundai Grand i10’. Hyundai claims to be India’s largest exporter since its inception and also the country’s first smart mobility solutions provider.
Hyundai Motor India Limited began its export operations in the year 1999 with 20 Hyundai Santro’s being exported to Nepal. By October of 2004, the company had already exported 1,00,000 cars. HMIL achieved the 5,00,000 car milestone in March 2008 followed by the 10,00,000 in February 2010 and 20,00,000 in March 2014. HMIL has exported 1,81,200 units with 792 customized country-specific variants in the calendar year 2019. In CY2019 the brand contributes a market share of 26% in the total export of passenger car from India.
HMIL is a global exporter and exports Made in India cars to 88 countries in 4 continents – Africa (28 countries), Asia Pacific (26 countries), Europe (1 country) and Latin America (33 countries). HMIL currently exports 10 models namely – ATOS (Santro), Grand i10, Xcent, Grand i10 (NIOS) & Grand i10 (Aura), Elite i20, i20 Active, Accent (Verna), Venue and Creta.
The Hyundai Aura has been recently launched with a BSVI compliant 1.2-litre MPI petrol engine, BSVI 1.0-litre Kappa Turbo GDI petrol engine and a BSVI 1.2-litre ECOTORQ diesel engine. The Hyundai Aura comes packed with features like projector headlamps, LED Daytime Running Lamps, Z Shaped LED Taillamps, Diamond Cut Alloy Wheels, Dual Tone Grey Interiors, All Black Interiors with Red Inserts, 13.46 cm Digital Speedometer with Multi-Information Display, 20.25 cm Touchscreen Infotainment System with Smartphone Connectivity, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Arkamys Premium Sound, Bluetooth and USB connectivity etc.
The Hyundai Aura also gets safety features such as ABS+EBD, Driver and Passenger Airbags, Driver & Passenger SeatBelt Reminder, Driver & Passenger Side Seat Belt Pretensioners & Load Limiters, Speed Alert System, Rear Parking Sensors, Immobilizer, Emergency Stop Signal and ISOFIX as standard.
Hyundai has already launched the BSVI compliant petrol engine on the new Elantra and Grand i10 NIOS in 2019 and upgraded the Santro, Grand i10 and Elite i20 with BSVI petrol engines. Hyundai Cars with BSVI engine are compatible with both BSVI and BSIV Fuel.
The Hyundai Aura is priced in India at INR 5,79 lakh onwards, ex-showroom.
