Hyundai has unveiled that new Santa Cruz pickup truck in the international markets. The brand announced that the Hyundai Santa Cruz will be available to order from late April in the US market. Hyundai positions Santa Cruz in a new Sport-Adventure Vehicle segment. The segment is unique to the US Market and features from the SUV, Truck and Crossover segments.

What is the Hyundai Santa Cruz?

The Hyundai Santa Cruz is a flexible open bed pick-up truck with SUV styling and features targeted at weekend adventurers. Hyundai developed the Santa Cruz using direct feedback from the customers. Hence the SUV features a secure, open bed area, a lockable tonneau cover and hidden bed storage. This gives the user versatile transportation options for urban, adventure as well as occupational use.

The Santa Cruz is based on the 2022 Hyundai Tucson but comes with a longer wheelbase. The Santa Cruz is also longer in terms of overall length. But the pick-up truck features a similar hidden-light signature grille. The wheels are larger at 20-inches and come with armour-like wheel arches. The daytime running lights feature a parametric jewel design and the tail lamps come with a horizontal “T” lighting signature. On the inside, the Hyundai Santa Cruz features a dual-cockpit design similar to the Hyundai Tucson. The cabin comes with a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bose Audio System. Hyundai boasts that the design team has focussed on the ease of ingress and egress and ergonomic comfort.

Powertrain

Powering the Hyundai Santa Cruz is a 2.5-litre direct-injection in-line four-cylinder engine. This naturally-aspirated engine develops 190+ HP of power. The engine comes with an eight-speed hydraulic automatic transmission. The brand will also offer a 2.5-litre direct-injection turbo-petrol engine with a higher state of tune. The turbo-petrol engine makes 275+ HP of power and comes with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT). The DCT gearbox Santa Cruz also comes with paddle shifters on the steering wheel. Both the engine options will come with H-TRAC all-wheel-drive capability.
