Korean automotive giant Hyundai has announced its plans of introducing 4 new SUVs for the Indian market in 2022. Apart from the one all-new SUV, Hyundai will introduce 3 new facelifts of its existing products in the Indian market. Recently, the brand also announced its plans of introducing a new SUV in the CUV segment to rival the Tata Punch. Named the Casper, Hyundai will reportedly ensure to heavily localize the micro SUV to lower costs and enhance affordability.
Hyundai has planned to launch the fourth-gen Tucson in India which now features a brand new design theme. Unveiled in 2021 for international markets, the Tucson features a ‘Parametric’ grille design that incorporates the mirror-like LED DRLs. With the DRLs being visible once the car has been switched on, the Tucson also sports unique LED headlamps.
Additionally, the SUV now sports redesigned LED tail lights, well-defined character lines, muscular wheel arches, and a dual-cockpit INTERFACE design. The interior of the new Tucson sports a layered dashboard with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system at the center. Hyundai also offers a new 10.25-inch digital drivers display along with 2 petrol powertrains and a diesel powertrain.
The Tucson will sport a 2.5-liter, 4-cylinder, direct-injection petrol engine with 190 PS and 247 Nm. The brand will then offer a 1.6-liter turbo-petrol hybrid motor that produces 230 PS and 350 Nm. Finally, the Tucson will feature the 1.6-liter CRDi Smartstream diesel engine with 136 PS of power and an optional four-wheel drive.
Following its release in 2019, the Venue has managed to achieve success in the mid-size SUV segment of India. In South Korea, the Venue facelift has been spotted testing in the form of test mules with various design changes. The mid-size SUV will sport a restyled front-end with Hyundai’s parametric grille, a new headlight, and reprofiled front/rear bumpers. Along with restyled Ioniq 5-inspired restyled tailights, the Venue will sport new design tweaks for the interior of the SUV.
2022 Hyundai Creta facelift: Detailed Highlights
Being the brand’s best-selling SUV in India, the second-gen version of the Creta arrived in 2020 with various design changes. Hyundai has decided to update the Creta in order to keep it competitive in the Indian midsize SUV segment. With the facelift revealed in Indonesia, the India-spec facelift will retain the new changes that include the new ‘Parametric’ grille. The SUV will also feature updated LED headlights, a new front bumper, a restyled bumper, and ADAS features.
Hyundai introduced its first-ever electric car for the Indian market in 2019 which has already received a mid-life cycle update. In international markets, the facelifted Kona now sports a sharper yet contemporary design with a redesigned front end. The electric SUV also sports restyled LED headlights, re-profiled bumpers, new LED tailights, and a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
Hyundai has also ensured to equip the Kona electric with a new 10.25-inch digital driver’s display and new safety features. These include blind-spot assistance, rear cross-traffic assistance, and safe exit warning along with updated Bluelink connected car tech. The brand has stated that it will launch the facelifted Kona in India with small levels of localization.
