Hyundai N unveils Ioniq 5 N TA producing 687 PS

Hyundai N has unveiled its IONIQ 5 N TA (Time Attack) Spec at the prestigious Nurburgring 24 Hours (N24) race, announcing a strategic collaboration with the renowned sim-racing video game, Gran Turismo.

IONIQ 5 N TA Spec Debut

The highlight of Hyundai’s showcase is the IONIQ 5 N TA Spec, designed to compete in the upcoming Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC). This electric marvel, boasting 687 PS, is engineered to set new records in the Electric Production SUV/Crossover and Electric Modified SUV/Crossover categories. Enhancements include software-tuned motors increasing the rear motor’s output by 37 horsepower, N Active Sound+ for enhanced driver feedback, motorsport-spec brakes, and high-downforce aerodynamics.

The IONIQ 5 N TA Spec and production models will tackle the PPIHC’s demanding 12.42-mile course, driven by Robin Shute, Dani Sordo, Paul Dallenbach, and Ron Zaras. These drivers bring extensive experience and accolades, including multiple PPIHC titles.

Gran Turismo Collaboration

Hyundai N’s collaboration with Gran Turismo marks a significant step in merging real-world and virtual racing. This partnership will include sim-racing marketing activities and potentially feature Hyundai’s participation in PPIHC within the game. Visitors to Hyundai’s N24 booth can engage with Gran Turismo 7 on 10 stations and participate in an on-site competition.

Chasing a Fourth Consecutive TCR Class Victory

Hyundai N is gearing up for another triumphant run at the N24, aiming for its fourth consecutive TCR class victory. The team will field three ELANTRA N TCR cars, driven by a diverse and accomplished lineup from Europe, North America, and China. The #830 car features Mikel Azcona, Marc Basseng, and Manuel Lauck, the trio that secured TCR-class wins in 2022 and 2023. The #831 car will see Mason Filippi, Harry Gottsacker, Mark Wilkins, and Bryson Morris, all returning to defend their titles. The #832 entry includes TCR China champions Martin (Hongwei) Cao, Rainey He, Andy Yan, and Zhang Zhen Dong.

Additionally, the Hyundai Driving Experience i30 Fastback N will compete in the VT2 Front-Wheel-Drive class, driven by a seasoned crew including Marcus Willhardt, Michael Bohrer, Jens Dralle, and Gyumin Kim.
