Hyundai has announced that the brand will soon launch Hyundai’s N Line performance cars in the Indian market. Hyundai’s first N Line in India will make its debut in 2021, and the South Korean brand will subsequently add more models in the near future. With the introduction of the N Line range in India, the brand will redefine the mobility experience for performance enthusiasts in the country.
It is important to note that ‘N Line’ comes with motorsport-inspired features while Hyundai also has an ‘N’ performance division, which churns out high-performance racing vehicles. The N Line is equivalent to the AMG Line or the M Sport variants of German manufacturers. However, the ‘N’ brand comes after the Namyang Research & Development centre and the company’s European Technical Centre based in Nürburgring-Nordschleife, Germany, where Hyundai N hones its high-performance N technologies.
The brand is targetting the Gen MZ, which is the combination of the Millenial generation and the Gen Z as the N Line will appeal to both ages. ‘MZers’, as they are collectively known in South Korea, love the combination of a powerful and energetic look along with an efficient engine and a comfortable price point. The N Line models in India will offer motorsport-inspired styling cues, drawing synergies from Hyundai’s N Motorsport Division. The N Line will also feature everyday excitement with retuned engine & suspension, and customers will never have a dull moment. The N Line range will be accessible for all as they will not be too expensive than the existing top-spec trims.
Hyundai has shown us a glimpse of the Hyundai i20 in the N Line package in the teaser video. The car is already on sale in the European market. The European-spec car comes with a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine with a 48 Volt mild-hybrid system. The engine is capable of delivering 120 PS of power. The i20 N Line also features motorsport-inspired bumpers, a new exhaust setup, uprated wheels and tyres. On the inside, the Hyundai i20 N Line comes with cosmetic upgrades such as a sporty red-accented trim and a sporty steering wheel. Hyundai will tune the N Line for everyday use and an occasional spin on the track.
Recently, images of the i20 N Line emerged on the internet, testing in full camouflage. At the same time, details of the India-spec car is not yet available. The i20 N Line in India is likely to come with similar features as the European-spec model. The car is likely to come with a dual-tone paint theme, aggressive front and rear bumpers. The i20 N Line will also come with a chequered-flag design radiator grille and an N Line badge on the radiator grille. The car features larger alloy wheels with a sporty design and wider and sticker tyres. Also, the i20 N Line comes with badged interiors, premium technical material on the upholstery, aluminium pedals etc.
