The four-wheeler market is getting too competitive and with the rising commodity prices, manufacturers are trying to bring in new variants to keep pricing and features attractive. Hyundai has added a new variant to its i20 lineup in India. The i20 Sportz (O) is priced at Rs 8.73 lakh (ex-showroom) for the single-tone colour options and Rs 8.88 lakh (ex-showroom) for the dual-tone colour options. The new variant is based on the Sportz trim and offers some additional features over it.
The i20 Sportz (O) comes with an electric sunroof, a wireless charger, and a leatherette finish on the door armrests. These features were previously available only on the higher Asta and Asta (O) variants. The new variant also gets six airbags, ABS, EBD, hill-start assist, ESC, and Vehicle Stability Management Control as standard safety features. It is powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine that produces 83 hp and 115 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. There is no automatic transmission option for this variant.
The i20 Sportz (O) is expected to attract customers who want a feature-rich and spacious hatchback with a sunroof. The i20 is one of the best-selling cars in Hyundai’s portfolio and the new variant is likely to boost its sales further. The i20 Sportz (O) is available in six colour options – Polar White, Typhoon Silver, Fiery Red, Starry Night, Titan Grey, and Metallic Copper. The dual-tone colour options are Polar White with Black Roof and Fiery Red with Black Roof. Customers can book the i20 Sportz (O) online or at any Hyundai dealership across the country.
The i20 Sportz (O) competes with other premium hatchbacks, like the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Toyota Glanza, and Tata Altroz. The i20 is the only car in this segment that offers a sunroof in the mid-range variant. The i20 also has a sportier version called the i20 N Line, which comes with a 120 hp turbo-petrol engine and a 7-speed DCT gearbox.
