The CNG fuel option is getting increasingly popular in the country. Furthermore, a host of carmakers are now expanding their portfolio with the addition of CNG options to their existing titles. Hyundai Aura SX is the recent model to receive this CNG upgrade. With this, the compact sedan from Hyundai is now available in two trims – S and SX for the CNG fuel type.
The move is to keep up with the rivals’ offerings, namely, Tata Tigor iCNG and Maruti Suzuki Dzire CNG. Aura is available with the CNG option but only with the S trim. This move also adds the CNG with the feature-loaded SX trim. With the demand growing strong for CNG vehicles, this move will definitely attract more customers. Hyundai currently produces nearly 6,000 units of the Grand i10 Nios and Aura S for CNG fuel types. Now with the addition of this new trim, we also expect a further boost in sales.
Hyundai Aura Powertrain Options
The sedan continues to use the 1.2-litre petrol engine. The performance figure for CNG reads as 68 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 95 Nm @ 4,000 rpm. Customers only get the 5-speed manual as the gearbox option.
Equipment List
The key highlighting features of this trim include an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment head-unit with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, electrically adjustable, foldable ORVMs, steering-mounted audio controls, 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, cooled glove box and more.
Price Details
When compared to its petrol counterparts, the CNG variants are dearer by INR 95,000. The CNG variant of the Aura SX trim retails at an ex-showroom price of INR 8.57 lakhs. This is pretty much in the ballpark range of Dzire CNG and Tigor iCNG that retail at starting prices of INR 8.23 lakh (ex-showroom) and INR 7.85 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively. Interestingly, these three, i.e. Aura, Dzire and Tigor, are also the only three sedans in India that are offered with an optional CNG kit.
