Hyundai Kona Electric SUV prices reduced by INR 1.58 lakh, now starts at INR 23.71 lakh

Effective on all bookings for the Hyundai Kona electric SUV from August 1st, 2019, the brand has reduced prices. The Hyundai Kona now receives the reduction in price tag thanks to the governments decision to reduce GST rates on electric vehicles. The Hyundai Kona is the first all electric car from the brand and also the most realistic EV on sale with a good driving range.

GST rates on electric vehicles had been reduced from 12% to 5% and on EV chargers from 18% to 5%. This has resulted in bringing down the price of the Kona by a huge margin, and just within a few days since launch. The Hyundai Kona was initially priced at INR 25,30,000 and after the GST price revision, it costs INR 23,71,858. That is a price drop of nearly INR 1.58 lakh on the ex-showroom cost of the Kona Electric.

In just 10 days since launch, the Hyundai Kona had received over 120 confirmed bookings here in India. The Kona Electric is brought to India via the CKD route, and is locally assembled at the plant in Chennai. The brand had also received over 10,000 test drive requests for the Kona.

The Hyundai Kona is a global electric SUV with more than 15,000 customers worldwide since April 2018. In India, Hyundai claims that the Kona can drive up to 454 km on a single charge, which makes it very realistic for day to day driving. Hyundai will also set up fast charging facility for customers, for hassle free ownership.

The Hyundai Kona claims a performance of 0-100 kmph in 9.7 seconds. The electric car comes with Eco+, Eco, Comfort and Sport driving modes matched to an automatic gearbox. The battery pack produces 136 PS of power and a massive 395 Nm of torque which powers the front wheels of the Hyundai Kona. The battery pack also has liquid-cooling for better efficiency. With a fast charger, the Hyundai Kona can get 80% driving range in 57 minutes and will take 6 hours 10 minutes for 100% charge using a standard AC charger.
