Hyundai India will no longer export to Europe

Hyundai India has moved its export operations to the European continent from its facility in Chennai, India to Hyundai’s plants in Turkey and Czech Republic. Hyundai has been India’s largest car exporter for a long time and these exports figures soon will go down.

Hyundai Motor India Ltd. will now focus on exporting cars to other markets such as Latin America, Middle East, Australia and Asia. This step has been taken in a bid to best utilise all of Hyundai’s seven manufacturing facilities around the world. Also, Hyundai wants to focus more on delivering faster to the Indian sector.

Over the last couple of years, the European market held a major share in the export figures by HMIL. Last year, the capacity utilisation of Hyundai’s Chennai facility was 98.5%. European models of the i20 and the i10 will now be produced in Turkey and Czech Republic.

Hyundai will still focus on India as an exports hub for small cars around the world.
