Hyundai India announces social welfare CSR initiatives, Phase 2 of Hyundai Cares

Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) has announced the commencement of COVID-19 CSR 2.0 Program under ‘Hyundai Cares’ campaign which is now in its 2nd phase, August-December 2020, and will focus on 3 key activities – Health, Education and Clean India strengthening the brand’s philanthropic efforts. 

In Phase 2 of the Hyundai Cares program which continues till December, the company has announced that it will support India’s indigenous fabric ‘Khadi’ and drive sanitization campaign in Districts/Tehsils for a safe and healthy surrounding for citizens of India. The brand has also pledged to support the children of COVID warriors by distributing devices with an academic curriculum that will enable them in the on-going academic session. 

Furthermore, on the event of the 74th Independence day in India Hyundai procured Khadi Masks to support the self-reliant individuals and proudly make them a part of India’s fight against the ongoing pandemic. 

Under the Hyundai Cares campaign and COVID-19 CSR 2.0 Program, the brand has announced three key initiatives – 

  1. Project Rakshak – A project that started on 18th August 2020 under which, approximately 30 000 Made-in-India Khadi Masks will be handed over to the Maharashtra and Gujarat state governments for creating a Safe and Healthy Environment.
  2. Project Shikshak – The project Shikshak will start in September 2020 and this initiative brings 1,000 Tablet computers that are loaded with 2 years academic course curriculum. The tablet computers will be distributed to the children of COVID Warriors from the lower-income group. Project Shikshak is a token of gratitude for their unremitting endeavours in the nation’s fight against the pandemic. 
  3. Project Grameen Sanitisation – The project also commences this September, under which Hyundai will initiate a sanitization drive to disinfect 292 Districts/Tehsils across India. A mobile van will sanitize public spaces in these areas using Ministry of Health approved disinfectants that are safe for the ecosystem. 

Earlier this year, Hyundai Motor India Foundation announced the Phase 1 of Hyundai Cares initiative which aimed at promoting the safety and welfare of its customers, employees, dealer and vendor partners.

In phase 1 Hyundai has donated INR 7 Crore to PM CARES fund, INR 5 Crore to Tamil Nadu Chief Ministers Relief Fund, donated Advanced COVID-19 Diagnostic Kits worth INR 4 Crore, distributed PPE Kits, Masks (3-Ply & N-95), Sanitizers and Dry Rations worth more than INR 9 Crore, partnered with Air Liquide Medical Systems to augment production and supply of ventilators, donated dry ration and Personal Protective Equipment to the State Government of Delhi, Maharashtra, Haryana, and Tamil Nadu as well as made a donation of incinerators to 5 government hospitals in Tamil Nadu.
