Hyundai just introduced the brand’s first N Line model in the Indian market. The sportier iteration of the new Hyundai i20 comes with cosmetic changes to the exterior and mild changes to the interiors. Volkswagen also retails its hot hatch, the VW Polo in India, with the sportier GT trim. Like the Hyundai i20 N Line, the Polo GT is also a sportier iteration of the Volkswagen Polo. The car comes with a black roof, black ORVMs, a larger roof edge spoiler GT badging and an automatic transmission. In this technical specification comparison, we pin the Hyundai i20 N Line against the Volkswagen Polo GT in a technical specification comparison.
Powering the Hyundai i20 N Line is a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. The motor produces 120 PS of power and 172 Nm of torque. Hyundai offers the i20 N Line with a 7-speed automatic DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission) with paddle shifters. Optionally, the car is also available with an innovative 6-speed clutch-pedal-less iMT (intelligent Manual Transmission).
On the other hand, the Volkswagen Polo GT comes from Volkswagen Group’s renowned TSI family engine. Powering the Polo GT is a 1.0-litre TSI (Turbocharged Stratified Injection) three-cylinder petrol engine. The engine produces 110 PS of power and 175 Nm of torque. The Polo GT TSI engine pairs with a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
In terms of features, the Hyundai i20 N Line offers a dark theme with N branded steering wheel, gear shift knob and seats. The car also comes with a cooled glovebox, rear AC vents, wireless smartphone charging with cooling function, cruise control, leatherette seats, etc.
A major differentiating factor on the i20 N Line is all four disc brakes which Volkswagen does not offer in the Polo GT. The Polo GT comes with a dark interior theme with a centrally mounted touchscreen infotainment system, and climate control AC. The Polo GT also features an analogue instrument cluster with a digital MID, cruise control, cooled glovebox, fabric seats, etc.
