Hyundai i20 Active safety features updated

Hyundai has updated their i20 Active crossover, based on the Elite i20 to meet the safety standard norms which have been made compulsory from October 2019. Pricing of the updated Hyundai i20 Active now starts at INR 7.74 lakh and goes up to INR 9.93 lakh, ex-showroom. The Hyundai i20 Active rivals the likes of Honda WR-V here in the Indian market. The Hyundai i20 Active is sold in S & SX trims, across petrol and diesel variants.

Safety features which are now standard on the i20 Active include driver and passenger front airbags, ABS, reverse parking sensors, reverse camera with display on the touchscreen, front fog lamps, central locking, impact sensing door unlock, speed sensing door lock, keyless entry, rear defogger, seatbelt pretensioner, speed alert system, seatbelt reminder, engine immobilizer and dual horn.

Powering the Hyundai i20 Active petrol is a 1.2L, 4-cylinder motor producing 83 PS of power and 11.7 kgm of torque matched to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The diesel variant gets a 1.4L, 4-cylinder block producing 90 PS of power and 22.4 kgm of torque matched to a 6-speed gearbox. There is no automatic gearbox on sale for the Hyundai i20 Active.

Features on the Hyundai i20 Active include projector headlamps, LED DRLs, cornering lamps, roof rails, dual tone alloy wheels, body cladding, dual tone paint options, touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, Arkamys sound system, tilt & telescopic steering wheel adjustment, rear AC vent, wireless charging, sliding driver armrest, etc.

Hyundai has already started working on the new generation of the i20 hatchback which is expected to make a debut at the 2020 Auto Expo. This all-new model will come with BS6 compliant engines and will also offer more cabin space for passengers. Honda has just revealed their rival, the new Jazz at the Tokyo motor show while the Maruti Suzuki Baleno will still continue unchanged for a year or two.
