In July 2023, Hyundai introduced the Exter in the Indian market. The SUV was launched at an introductory price price of INR 5.99 lakh, ex-showroom. Now, the company has increased the prices of this car by INR 16,000.
The Exter is Hyundai’s newest car on the market and went on sale on 10 July 2023. The number of pre-bookings stood at 10,000. Furthermore, over 75 percent of the customers have opted for sunroof-equipped variants of the car. Hyundai also revealed that over 33 percent of the bookings have been for the AMT version. The Korean carmaker also announced that over 50,000 customers had already booked the sub-4m SUV.
Hyundai Exter : More Details
In terms of design, the car uses Hyundai’s Sensuous Sportiness design theme. The car gets a two box shape and looks rugged. It gets multiple crease lines and black cladding is present all-around. The square wheel arches are flared and a prominent design element. The Exter also gets silver skid plates, black grille, roof rails and gets minimal usage of chrome.
Some of the standout visual elements of the car include H-shaped LED DRLs and square headlamps placed down in the bumper, H-themed tail lamp, 15-inch alloy wheels and dual tone colour options.
The interior closely follows the themes of the Grand i10 Nios and the Aura. The Exter gets an all-black dashboard. The car gets a dual-tone upholstery in black and green.
Some of the features on the car include an automatic climate control, sunroof and connected car tech. Hyundai Exter owners will get voice commands without the internet and in multiple languages as well. OTA software updates are bundled as well.
There is an 8-inch touchscreen and multifunction steering wheel. The infotainment is compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Powertrain of the Hyundai Exter
As the car is based on the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and the Aura, the engine is shared with them as well. The 1.2-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine develops 82 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 114 Nm @ 4,000 rpm. The gearbox duties are handled by a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT. There is also a CNG option.
