Hyundai Exter is ideal for weekend getaways

Hyundai launched the new Exter SUV in the Indian market last year. The Exter draws its design inspiration from the natural world and blends Hyundai’s ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ design philosophy with its progressive and unique styling. The compact yet spacious Exter is built for India’s Gen MZ customers who love to work hard on weekdays and explore the world on weekends and the Exter matches this quality of wanderlust thanks to its design, features and its engine.

Genuinely Good

Recently, we took the Hyundai Exter on a long drive to Panchgani and even during the hot summers, the Exter managed to keep us cool inside the cabin. The rear air-conditioning vents are a boon for SUV owners with more than two people in their family as everyone inside the car remains happy. The smooth engine coupled with its easy on the back suspension offers comfort and its high ground clearance coupled with large wheels ensures the SUV can traverse over rough terrain with ease.

The Exter with AMT gearbox is also so easy to use especially while moving through bumper to bumper traffic. The automatic gearbox makes life easy for the driver and is effortless to operate. The AMT variant also comes with paddle shifters mounted to the steering wheel offering a sportier driving experience.

Engine & Efficiency

The Hyundai Exter comes with a 1.2-litre four-cylinder Kappa naturally-aspirated petrol engine. The engine produces 83 PS of power and 113.5 Nm of torque matched to a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox. With these transmission options the Exter offers an ARAI-certified mileage of 19.4 kmpl and 19.2 kmpl, respectively.

The efficient engine coupled with a 37-litre fuel tank also offers a range of more than ~650 km on a single fuel tank. This makes the Exter an ideal weekend getaway car. Hyundai also offers the Exter in the CNG Bi-fuel avatar which produces 69 PS of power and 95.2 Nm of torque & comes only with a 5-speed manual transmission option. The CNG variant returns an ARAI certified mileage of 27.1 km/kg.

Storage

The Hyundai Exter also comes with a 391-litre boot space, this allows enough luggage capacity for all passengers so everybody in the cabin can enjoy the long drive. Additionally, a parcel tray also enables passengers to store their snacks as well as small items, within easy reach. The Exter also comes with two cup holders in the centre console and bottle holders on doors to carry water. Thanks to a cooled glove box cold drinks can also be kept cool during the weekend trips.

Cool Features

The Hyundai Exter also features a fully automatic climate control system along with rear AC vents to keep all occupants happy. The SUV also gets an 8-inch HD infotainment system with Bluelink and smartphone connectivity through Android Auto & Apple CarPlay to keep everyone entertained on those long drives. The car also comes with easy to use hinglish voice commands, and guess what, the sunroof on the Exter can also be controlled using voice commands, now isn’t that cool!

Safety

The Exter also comes with features such as 6-airbags as standard. In addition to this, the SUV also gets Electronic Stability Control, Vehicle Stability Management, Hill Assist Control, and 3 point seatbelts on all seats. The Exter also comes with Rear parking sensors, burglar alarm and tyre pressure monitoring system are a few examples of the advanced safety features offered on the Exter.
