Hyundai India commemorates the brand’s 25 years long association with Shah Rukh Khan. This makes it one of the longest brand-ambassador partnerships in the automotive world. On this occasion, HMIL (Hyundai Motor India Limited) delivered the IONIQ 5 to the ‘King of Bollywood – Shah Rukh Khan’. Furthermore, Hyundai revealed that the flagship electric SUV is presented to King Khan as a testimonial of his trust in the brand and his incessant support.
Shah Rukh Khan also revealed that this is the first electric vehicle in his car collection. The IONIQ 5 will therefore enable the superstar to experience sustainable mobility along with performance and luxury. In addition to this, the conferred unit is the 1100th piece, further making it a special one. This also marks a new achievement for Hyundai as the IONIQ5, now, has reached more than a thousand homes, in India. Hyundai introduced the IONIQ5 in India at the Auto Expo 2023.
Hyundai IONIQ 5 – Technical Specifications
Powering the Hyundai IONIQ 5 is a 72.6 kWh battery pack. The battery features advanced and high density battery cells giving the IONIQ 5 an ARAI certified range of 631 km on a single charge. Using a 350 kW DC charger, customers can charge the EV from a 10% State-of-Charge (SOC) to 80% SOC in just 18 minutes. This fast charging capability not only reduces the customer’s range anxiety but also their journey time.

The Hyundai IONIQ 5 merges a futuristic depiction along with old school philosophy. The root of the design language comes from the Hyundai ‘PONY’, a heritage Hyundai car sold between the 1975 and the 1990. But the IONIQ5 EV offers cutting edge technology all wrapped in one. The IONIQ 5 is built from the grounds-up offering innovative mobility experience.
Hyundai IONIQ 5 – About e-GMP
The Hyundai IONIQ 5 is based on Hyundai Motor Group’s e-GMP architecture. e-GMP stands for Electric – Global Modular Platform. Hyundai’s e-GMP is a dedicated electric vehicle platform with scalable wheelbase length. e-GMP also has the capability to accommodate batteries from various manufacturers. Currently, the e-GMP underpins 6 Hyundai Motor Group electric vehicles. This includes the IONIQ5, IONIQ6, KIA EV6, Kia EV5, KIA EV9 and Genesis GV60.
