Hyundai Creta facelift begins road testing in India

Looks like Hyundai has commenced the road testing of the new Creta Facelift on Indian roads. Spy images of what appears to be the first Creta under test have surfaced online. The car was earlier spotted testing in South Korea.

Hyundai Creta Facelift : What’s new?

As expected, the Indian-spec car is different from the car currently sold in the Asean countries or even South Africa or Brazil. That said, the Creta for India will feature a front end similar to the Hyundai Palisade. The other markets get a Tucson-inspired fascia. Despite the heavy camouflage, we can see the vertical headlamp design. However, it is not yet clear if Creta too will get a full-width light bar like the Verna.

The test mule also has alloys similar to the ones offered on the Alcazar. These are 18-inch units. The Creta facelift also comes with a 360-degree camera system which can be confirmed from the under ORVM camera unit. Hyundai could also offer ADAS features.

Towards the rear we can hope for a new tailgate, updated bumper and new tail lamps.

Other details are not yet out – like the interiors, rear design etc.

Hyundai Creta Facelift : Powertrain options

The Creta could be offered with a 1.5-litre diesel and a 1.5-litre petrol engine. A more powerful 1.5-litre turbo petrol could also make its way to this SUV, albeit in higher trims. Gearbox options could include a 6-speed iMT, 6-speed manual and other automatic transmissions.

Launch timeline of Hyundai Creta Facelift

Hyundai is looking at an early 2024 launch for the Creta Facelift. This was affirmed by a media report which suggested production to commence from January 2024. The Exter is expected to go on sale later this month and Hyundai might consider a 6-month interval between new launches. The Creta is an important product for the Korean carmaker and as such the company is likely to go all-out for its launch.
