Hyundai is planning to launch the fully-electric version of the popular Creta EV. The Creta EV is likely to use the underpinnings from the standard Creta unlike born electric vehicles. Rumours in the past revealed that the Creta EV is likely to follow the launch of the new Alcazar which could arrive during the festive season in India.
Now, a media report suggests that the Hyundai Creta EV is likely to make its debut in January 2025. In addition to this, reports also reveal that the Creta EV will be Hyundai’s first mass-market electric vehicle which the company is likely to produce locally. The Creta EV could also use the powertrain and battery from the Kona Electric, further balancing the economies of scale for the company. Furthermore, the production of the Creta EV is likely to commence in the last calendar quarter of 2024.
The Hyundai Creta EV is likely to use the same underpinnings as the ICE (internal combustion engine) Creta. The EV is also likely to use similar design as the facelift Creta. Furthermore, reports reveal that the company is likely to manufacture the electric version of the SUV at their manufacturing facility near Chennai. Sources also reveal that the production line for the Creta and the Creta EV is also likely to be same.
Both the Creta ICE and EV are also likely to share most of its parts, apart from some changes in styling to distinguish between the ICE and EV. This could include some changes to the front fascia, grille, bumpers and alloy wheels. The EV version is likely to offer a closed grille, aerodynamically enhanced bumpers, spoilers and aero curtain on its wheels. The brand is also likely to offer some changes on the interiors which is likely to include a new steering wheel and a reworked central console.
