The Hyundai Casper Cross has been making waves in South Korea since its launch. This compact SUV, known for its rugged design and electric power, has sparked curiosity among Indian automotive enthusiasts. But should it come to India?

Hyundai Casper Cross – what does it offer?

The electric SUV is powered by a 49-kWh battery pack, offering a range of 285 km on a single charge. It takes just 30 minutes to charge from 10% to 80%, making it convenient for urban use. The Casper Cross also boasts a more powerful electric motor, delivering 113 horsepower and 147 Nm torque.

Why it won’t come to India?

Despite its impressive features, the Casper Cross is currently available only in South Korea. The price tag of 31.9 million won ($22,000 or INR 19,11,260) has raised questions about its affordability in the Indian market. Such a steep price for a micro-SUV is something that cannot be justified in the Indian auto space. Moreover, Hyundai India is not too keen in bringing the Casper to India.

However, its compact size and electric power make it an attractive option for city dwellers.

Final Thoughts

The Hyundai Casper is a great product and is very practical for the Indian market. We are talking specifically of the ICE variants. After the Santro was discontinued, Hyundai India has not replaced it with any other product. The Casper could fit the space very well. Also, Hyundai does not have a competitor to the Maruti Suzuki Alto and the Wagon R. The Casper if launched could pose a threat to their growing sales numbers.
