Within hours of having displayed their first ever products for India, seems like Husqvarna has no plans of getting out of the news. At the recently concluded India Bike Week 2019, Husqvarna revealed the Svartpilen 250 and Vitpilen 250 models which will go on sale in Q1 of 2020. Now, the brand has also revealed the Svartpilen 200 online and seems like this could become the entry-level motorcycle for the brand globally. As we all know, the Svartpilen 250 is based on the KTM 250 Duke, likewise, the Svartpilen 200 will be based on the KTM 200 Duke.
Powering the Husqvarna Svartpilen 200 will be a 199.5cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke petrol motor producing 25 HP of power and 19.5 Nm of torque. Now these figures are as per BS4 compliance. We know that the Husqvarna Svartpilen 200 will come with a BS6 engine from the day of launch, and these power figures could very well change. Another major similarity between the Svartpilen 200 & 200 Duke would be the underbelly exhaust in comparison to the full size unit on their 250cc siblings respectively.
Husqvarna in India will be launching the Svarpilen 200 & Svartpilen 250 as lifestyle motorcycles with their scrambler design DNA. However, in our market, the bikes will run on alloy wheels unlike the spoked rims we see abroad. This will alloy for tubeless tyres and easy puncture repair.
The bike will most definitely get different body colour options compared, so that the Svartpilen 200, Svartpilen 250 and also the Svartpilen 401 whenever it arrives look distinct. The scrambler design looks rather good, but the bike does have a small footprint, similar in scale to the Benelli Leoncino 250. Features on the Svartpilen 200 will include LED DRLs, LED headlamp, LED tail lamp, LED turn indicator, full digital speedometer, USD front forks, rear monoshock, dual-purpose tyres, tail tidy design, tyre hugger integrating the number plate, small underbelly cowl and minimal bodywork. The rack on top on the fuel tank is going to be very useful to mount luggage and oddities without having to worry about damaging the body paint.
