Husqvarna reveals E-Pilen electric motorcycle concept with 10.7 BHP

Husqvarna has entered the electric mobility world with a new Zero Emission motorcycle concept. The brand has revealed the new Husqvarna E-Pilen concept. The electric motorcycle will target a wide range of audience as well as broaden the company’s appeal to existing riders. The brand also reveals that the new Husqvarna E-Pilen is just the beginning and it is only one of several electric mobility options under development for urban riders.

Husqvarna E-Pilen Design & Styling

The brand has clearly taken the design inspiration from the Vitpilen and Svartpilen model which come with ICE powertrains. The motorcycle concept offers a glimpse of what lies in the future of zero-emission mobility. Yet the design bridges the gap between the conventional ICE and Future Electric with the hallmark Husqvarna eccentric design language. Similar to the Vitpilen & Svartpilen, the E-Pilen concept also features a rounded headlamp with smoke covers, chiselled tank panels, a flat bench seat, wide handlebars, a sleek tail with a short overhang and minimalist features.

Husqvarna E-Pilen Powertrain

The Husqvarna E-Pilen will come with an 8 kW power unit which is equivalent to 10.72 mechanical Hp. The brand also revealed that the power unit features a battery pack that delivers 100 km of range. This leads us to believe that the E-Pilen is clearly developed as an urban motorcycle. The brand will be equipping the E-Pilen with a swappable battery that will help extend the range of the motorcycle and also reduces the range anxiety.

Mechanical Bits

The motorcycle is likely to feature some of the mechanical bits from the ICE Husqvarna motorcycles. These may include parts such as the suspension, chassis, brakes and wheels. This will help the brand cut costs and allow the brand to position the electric motorcycle close to the ICE counterpart. From the images, it appears that the E-Pilen will come with upside-down front forks from WP, a WP monoshock suspension on the rear, an angular swingarm and 5-spoke alloy wheels. The braking components are also likely to carry forward from ICE Husqvarna motorcycles. More details on the electric motorcycle will be available in the near future.
