Husqvarna could be planning to introduce the 125cc iterations of the Husqvarna Vitpilen and Svartpilen dubbed as the Black Arrow and White Arrow respectively. The brand is rumoured to use the same strategy that it has currently employed which is borrowing the engine, chassis and suspension from the KTM siblings.
In the international market, the Husqvarna Vitpilen and Svartpilen come with the KTM running gear in the 401 and 701 iterations which employ the KTM 390 and KTM 690 engines and platform. The brand has used a similar strategy in the Indian market as well. The current Husqvarna Vitpilen 250 and Svartpilen come with the KTM 250 Duke engine. Similarly, the brand is now said to be working on a 125cc iteration which could use the KTM 125 Duke engine chassis and suspension.
The Husqvarna 125cc iteration will be an important bid for the critical Indian market. The KTM 125 Duke in India is powered by a BS6/Euro5 emission-compliant 124.7cc water-cooled, single-cylinder 4-Valve DOHC motor with electronic fuel injection that produces 14.5 PS of power and 12 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed gearbox. The Husqvarna 125 models are also expected to be underpinned by the same steel trellis frame and 43mm diameter upside-down WP front fork suspension triple rate springs, a 10-step adjustable monoshock suspension on the rear with double rate springs along with 17-inch alloy wheels.
It is expected that the Husqvarna 125 will be produced at the Bajaj Auto’s Chakan plant in Pune and exported to the international market. The new 125cc iteration is also expected to be launched in the Indian market where the demand for small capacity motorcycles is growing. While there is no confirmation from the brand, the 125cc iterations are likely to arrive in the near future, in both the Indian market as well as the European market.
In other news, the Husqvarna 250 motorcycles in the Indian market have seen a price hike and now cost INR 2,800 more than the predecessor.
