Honda has just teased a new adventure motorcycle in the Indian market. The Adventouring segment is becoming popular in India, but the entry-level market is still limited to the Hero MotoCorp Xpulse200. But now Honda has released a teaser video of a new motorcycle that appears to be based on the Honda Hornet 2.0.
Honda Adventure Motorcycle
The teaser video does not reveal much except that the motorcycle features an upright front end and knuckle guards. The knuckle guards also integrate turn signal indicators and come with a tall visor. The headlight of the motorcycle appears similar to the Honda Hornet 2.0 which gets an LED cluster headlamp. While Honda has not shown much in the teaser, we speculate that the adventure class motorcycle will come with long-travel suspension, on the front and rear. The Honda Adventure bike is also likely to come with LED taillamps, scooped seats, pillion grab rails, and a bash plate to protect the underbelly.
Honda Adventure Nomenclature
Recently, Honda also filed patents for the NX200 name, which leads us to believe that the new adventure motorcycle will hone the new name. When launched, the new Honda NX200 will compete with the Xpulse200 enduro-style motorcycle. Currently, the quarter-litre adventure segment has the KTM 250 Adventure, but expect the Honda NX200 to be nearly a lakh rupees more affordable than the 250 Adventure.
Honda NX200 Engine Speculation
The Honda NX200 is likely to be based on the BS6 compliantĀ 184.4cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine. The programmed fuel injection engine produces 17 Hp of power and 16.1 Nm of torque and comes with a 5-speed constant mesh gearbox. The NX200 is likely to come with an upside-down suspension on the front and a monoshock on the rear. The motorcycle is also likely to come with a single 276mm hydraulically operated petal disc on the front and 220mm rear petal disc on the rear. The motorcycle will come with dual-channel ABS.
More details on the Honda Adventure motorcycle is likely to emerge in the near future.
