Honda Cars India releases its sales report for July 2021. The company mentioned that it sold a total of 6,055 units in the domestic market and exported over 918 units for the given period. Compared to last year figure, i.e. July 2020, the figure stood at 5,383 units as domestic sales and 282 units as exports. Honda also mentioned that almost all of its dealership networks are now open, thus helping to boost the sales figure post the 2nd wave of Covid-19. In the upcoming festive season, Honda expects the demand will further grow stronger in the forthcoming months. With the unlock process in progress, Honda mentioned that they would remain vigilant, monitor the Covid-19 situation closely, and take necessary steps.
The company’s range of products includes Honda Amaze, Honda City, Honda Jazz and Honda WR-V. Out of these, Amaze and City particularly have been Honda’s top-selling products. The City is in the 5th iteration in India and has been the benchmark for the C-segment sedans. The currency generation gets a completely new exterior design and slightly tuned mechanicals to comply with the BS-6 emission norms. But, in the recent few years, the sales of sedans is following a decreasing trend.
Reports were suggesting that soon Honda will launch a compact SUV based on the Amaze platform. But, we understand that this plan has also been dropped. Now, reports are suggesting that Honda is looking to enter the mid-size SUV segment. The SUV is likely to be based on the Honda N7X concept SUV, which was recently unveiled in Indonesia. Once launched, the car will take on the other SUVs in the segment, including the likes of Creta, Hector, Seltos, Harrier and Kicks. Honda could launch a three-row version of the SUV and take on the growing popularity of Alcazar and the Safari.
