Honda Cars India Ltd. releases its sales report for May 2021. The Japanese car manufacturer sold a total of 2,032 units of passenger cars in India. For the same period, Honda exported a total of 385 units. This figure is somewhat below par, given the prevailing lockdown situation due to the 2nd wave of Covid-19.
For context, Honda had sold a total of 9,072 cars in the domestic market in April 2021. Honda had also shut down its production facility to take up scheduled maintenance, limiting the production of new vehicles. The situation is getting under control, and the downward trend of Covid-19 is starting to follow. Thus, Honda mentioned that they are gradually opening up businesses in a staggered manner.
Honda Extends Support To Fight Covid-19
To help its customers in these unprecedented times, Honda had announced the extension of warranty and free vehicle services. The restricted movement did affect the customers in availing of various maintenance services. And thus, this extension initiative will add up as a flexible option for the customers. Honda India Foundation has pledged over INR 65 million to provide support for Covid-19. Honda has also set up Covid Care Centres to help the critical Covid-19 patients. The company also handled the shortage of oxygen supply by assisting the local governments in setting up Oxygen production plants. Honda is also a forerunner in providing essential medical equipment like PPR kits, masks, sanitisers, and more for those in need.
