Honda has revealed the new Honda SUV RS Concept at the 2021 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS). Honda boasts that the new SUV RS Concept combines an amusing character, engaging driving performance, and advanced technology. The brand will display the SUV RS at the GIIAS held between 11 to 21 November 2021 at Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD, Tangerang. Upon launch, the Honda SUV RS will compete with the popular Hyundai Creta in the international market.
First RS Variant on a Honda SUV
Honda claims that the SUV RS Concept is the first Honda SUV to come with an RS variant. For the uninitiated, Honda applies the RS badge to its product variants that have a sportier character. Currently, in the Indonesian market, Honda retails the Honda Brio, Honda Mobilio, Honda City Hatchback and All New Honda Civic with the RS badge. Honda also revealed that the SUV segment is booming in the Indonesian market, following the global trend. Customers in Indonesia also like a sportier car to suit various activities and road conditions. The RS badge is also well received well by customers in Indonesia.
Honda SUV RS – Design Highlights
The Honda SUV RS features a sporty exterior design that matches Honda’s DNA in a compact SUV platform. Honda developed the concept car in collaboration with Honda R&D Asia Pacific Co., Ltd. The SUV features a slim body with sharp and solid lines. The radiator grille also integrates will with the body endorsing its sporty character. Honda has not revealed the interiors of the SUV RS concept, but we believe that the SUV will come with the latest-generation features as well as Honda’s latest ‘Sensing’ technology.
Honda SUV RS – Powertrain
Powering the new Honda SUV RS in the production spec is likely to be a 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine. The brand is could borrow the engine from the international-spec Honda City sedan. Honda could also offer the e: HEV mild-hybrid technology on the SUV RS as well. The brand is also likely to provide the SUV RS with transmission options that include a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic.
