Honda has finally showcased to us the production-spec e:Ny1. This is the brand’s first electric SUV that will hit the European and other international markets soon. e:Ny1 is Honda’s answer for the ever-growing all-electric SUV market. Once launched, it will take on the likes of the Volkswagen ID4 and the Jeep Avenger EV.
Honda e:Ny1 Is The EV Version Of Honda HR-V
The e:Ny1 is the first of many new-era EVs that Honda is targeting to launch. The aim is to capture a significant proportion of the family EV market globally. e:Ny1 is essentially an electric equivalent to the HR-V crossover launched in 2021. We say this because it looks very similar. But on the inside and underneath, it’s completely new.
Honda Is Using Its New e:N Architecture F
Underpinning the crossover is Honda’s new e:N Architecture F. This is a front-wheel-drive, pure-electric platform built. Honda mentioned that it has used high-tensile steel for 47 per cent of the e:Ny1’s body. Thus, we can expect good torsional rigidity. The aforementioned platform hosts a single motor on the front axle with a performance rating of 199 HP and 310Nm. With these figures, we are expecting a 0-100 kmph run of around 8.0 seconds. The equipped 68.8kWh battery pack is good for a competitive 412 km range on the WLTP cycle. Talking of the charging speed, Honda is yet to highlight the same. But we expect 10-80 per cent in about 45 minutes via a fast charger.
