Honda’s flagship superbike, the CBR1000RR-R, has received a massive price drop. The motorcycle was priced around INR 33 lakh ex-showroom last year. However, Honda has managed to cut down almost INR 10 lakh on the ex-showroom price. The latest price list on the official website reveals that the new Fireblade in Mumbai costs INR 23,55,788 ex-showroom for the STD Black colour and INR 24,07,216 ex-showroom for the STD Red colour option.
Powering the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade is a 999.9cc in-line, four-cylinder, liquid-cooled DOHC engine. The motor comes with PGM-FI (Programmed Fuel Injection) and oil sprayed over the pistons for cooling. The engine comes with the same bore and stroke of 81mm x 48.5mm as the MotoGP RC213V-S, titanium connecting rods that are 50% lighter than a steel rod, a semi-cam gear train, finger-follower type rocker arms and new technology that reduces friction. The brand also offers forged aluminium pistons that are 5% lighter than conventional ones. The engine produces 214.5 Hp of power @ 14500 RPM and 113 Nm of torque @ 12500 RPM matched to a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper assist clutch.
The Honda CBR1000RR-R comes with an aluminium composite twin-spar frame. The standard motorcycle rides on 43mm Showa Big Piston Front Fork with preload, compression and rebound adjustment and a 120mm travel. On the rear, the brand offers a Unit Pro-Link with a gas-charged HMAS damper with a 10-step adjustment, Showa Balance-Free Rear Cushion with preload, compression and rebound adjustment offering 137mm of travel. The SP edition comes with a 43mm Ohlins NPX Smart-EC with preload, compression and rebound adjustment offering 125mm stroke. On the rear, the bike gets Pro-Link with gas-charged Ohlins TTX36 Smart-EC damper with preload, compression and rebound damping and 143mm of travel.
Honda dealerships will open bookings for the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade as soon as the new stock arrives. The brand has not yet revealed how the company has managed the significant price cut. To put things into perspective, the Kawasaki ZX-10R comes with a price tag of INR 15.83 lakh ex-showroom, the Ducati Panigale V4 is priced at INR 23.50 lakh ex-showroom, and the Aprilia RSV4 comes with a sticker price of INR 23.69 lakh ex-showroom. The new price is definitely good news among Honda aficionados who wish to purchase the motorcycle.
