Honda recalls 90,468 cars in India due to faulty fuel pumps

Honda Cars India Pvt. Ltd. has announced a voluntary recall of 90,468 vehicles due to faulty fuel pumps. The recall, which begins on November 5, 2024, affects models such as the Amaze, Brio, BR-V, City, Jazz, and WR-V, manufactured between August 2017 and June 2018.

Issue and Impact

The faulty fuel pumps may contain defective impellers, which can lead to engine stalling or failure to start. Honda has identified this issue as a potential safety concern and is proactively contacting owners to bring their cars in for a free replacement.

Affected Models and Production Years

The recall includes the following models and production years:

  • Amaze: September 2017 to June 2018
  • Brio: August 2017 to June 2018
  • BR-V: September 2017 to June 2018
  • City: September 2017 to June 2018
  • Jazz: September 2017 to June 2018
  • WR-V: September 2017 to June 2018

Replacement Process

Honda will replace the faulty fuel pumps free of charge at its dealerships across India. Owners of the affected vehicles will be contacted individually and can also check their eligibility for the replacement by entering their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on Honda’s website.

Additional Information

The recall also covers 2,204 units of older models that had their fuel pumps replaced previously as spare parts. Customers who may have bought a fuel pump assembly from authorized Honda dealerships between June 2017 and October 2023 are advised to get their cars checked.
