Honda planning to launch XL 750 Transalpine motorcycle in India

Written by Kanad Kalasur

According to a media report, Honda Motorcycles and Scooter India is considering launching the XL 750 Transalp in India. The middleweight adventure bike will head against the likes of the BMW F859GS and the Triumph Tiger 900.

Honda is looking for portfolio Expansion

It is said that Honda wants to increase the number of Adventure bikes it sells in India. The 750 Transalp will be ideal for customers who are looking at an Adventure bike in the price range of INR 10-15 lakh. That said, due to the new OBD2 norms, the launch could get delayed.

Honda’s premium bikes like the Africa Twin and the Goldwing along with other imported bikes brought in via the CBU and the SKD route currently lack OBD2 compliance. Hence till this is met, the Japanese bike maker will not be able to sell its wares in the Indian market.

BigWing dealerships are expected to receive new bikes by the end of this year as MY2024 models.

Honda Transalp XL750 : More Details

The XL750 Transalp equips the same engine as the new CB750 Hornet. This is a liquid-cooled, 755cc, parallel-twin unit. The performance figure reads as 92 HP at 9,500rpm and 75 Nm at 7,250rpm mated to a 6-speed gearbox. As we have seen with most parallel-twin engines these days. This engine too has a 270-degree firing order. This gives it the ‘pulse’ that’s a hallmark of a V-Twin engine.

The motorcycle gets a new steel diamond frame supported by a 43mm Showa USD fork and monoshock. Both of these setups feature only preload adjustability. With 210mm of ground clearance, the motorcycle wears 21/18-inch tubed wire-spoke wheels and block-pattern tyres. Weighing 208 kg the weight is quite a bit less than its immediate rivals such as the Tiger 900 Rally (196 kg dry) and the BMW F 850 GS (233 kg kerb).
