Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) is gearing up to introduce new 500cc bikes in the Indian market. The company aims to strengthen its premium segment with these new models. The Rebel 300, already popular overseas, will be launched alongside two new 500cc bikes.
The Rebel 300 uses the same 286cc liquid-cooled single engine as the CB300R. It is a bobber-style cruiser motorcycle with a unique chassis, enabling a low seat height of 690mm. Weighing just under 170 kilos, the Rebel 300 is expected to be priced competitively, possibly below INR 2.40 lakh.
Honda is also working on two new 500cc models, codenamed MLHJ and MLWA. These bikes are part of a new project and may feature a different engine from the existing 471cc parallel-twin used in models like the NX500. The new 500cc bikes could be based on the CB350 H’ness platform.
The launch of these new bikes is anticipated to happen between 2026 and 2027. Honda aims to fill the gap left by Royal Enfield when it stopped making the UCE 500 due to BS6 emissions norms. The new 500cc bikes will offer a powerful alternative to the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and other similar models.
Honda’s move to introduce new 500cc bikes in India is a strategic step to capture a larger share of the premium motorcycle market. The Rebel 300 and the new 500cc models are expected to bring exciting options for enthusiasts. With competitive pricing and advanced features, these bikes could set a new benchmark in the Indian two-wheeler market.
