Honda has been an important contributor to the motor sporting community in India. This Talent Hunt program is also a testimony of Honda’s aspiration of creating budding racers from all over India. The first round of the event held in Bengaluru received a positive reception from participants. The shortlisted riders will then go on to compete in the 2022 season of IDEMITSU Honda India Talent Cup CBR150R. The long-term aim is to put young Indian talent on multiple National and International platforms like Asia Talent Cup, Asia Road Racing Championship, and also Endurance championships. Honda has high hopes for its investment and dedication to this initiative. Honda also aims to change the scenario of motorsports in India with the initiative.
In Phase 01 of the event, a total of 09 candidates went through rigorous 3 levels of tests. First-round also tested the riders for their physical fitness. The 2nd round was about judging the young guns’ riding skills and manoeuvrability on the racetrack. And the final round was a one-on-one interview with candidates and their parents/guardians to understand their motorsport passion. All factors are detrimental to the development of the rider.
After shortlisting in Phase I, the top candidates will get training followed by promotion to ride on the track in Phase II. From here, Honda will pick up the best talent for future development. These final riders will also get an opportunity to race in the ongoing 2022 IDEMITSU Honda India Talent Cup CBR 150R category.
