Honda has filed the design patents for the Japanese brand flagship touring motorcycle, the NT1100 in the Indian market. The design patents of the Honda NT1100 have been filed at the Indian Intellectual Property Office. This leads us to believe that Honda could be planning to introduce the touring motorcycle in the Indian market soon. Currently, the Indian market has showcased a huge trend shift towards the adventure and touring segment. Honda is likely to capitalise on this opportunity and gain an advantage on the sales thanks to the NT1100 which is based on the Africa Twin but optimised for highway touring. The Honda NT1100 creates a perfect balance between a road touring motorcycle as well as a weekend adventure bike.
The Honda NT1100 comes with an upright design featuring sleek LED headlamps and upswept LED DRLs. The bike comes with a tall touring style windscreen with integrated wind deflectors. The Honda NT1100 also comes with chiselled side panels and a fuel tank. The bike comes with a scooped seat for the rider and a wide pillion seat ergonomically designed keeping comfort in mind. Adding to the comfort quotient is the upright handlebars and mid-set footpegs. The NT1100 also comes with a tail rack and provisions for the pannier boxes.
Powering the Honda NT1100 is a 1,048cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin cylinder engine from the CRF1100 Africa Twin. The 8-valve engine produces 100 BHP of power and 104 Nm of torque. Honda offers two gearbox options on the NT1100 – a 6-speed manual and a DCT automatic. The bike rides on a semi-double-cradle frame with a bolt-on aluminium subframe along with 43 mm Showa USD forks at the front and a Showa mono-shock at the rear. Braking power comes from 310 mm twin discs with radially-mounted callipers on the front and a single 256 mm disc at the rear. The motorcycle comes with a fuel tank capacity of 20 litres which is capable of providing a range of around 400 km.
