Honda makes changes to existing products in India

Soon after the launch of the new City e:HEV, Honda India has silently made changes to its existing product lineup. The new revisions to the products are revealed through internal documents shared with the dealers. The models with changes include the 5th-Gen City, 4th-Gen City, WR-V and Amaze. Some of the changes will come into effect from May 2022 while some from June 2022.

Honda Product Range Updates – Details

The biggest change for the complete lineup is the deletion of variant badges from the cars. The newly launched City e:HEV will be the only exception to this. This change is applicable from May 2022 onwards.

The 5th-Gen Honda City will see the most number of revisions. Starting with the deletion of front and rear mudguards on the V variant. Additionally, the second change to the V variant is the change of the inner door handle from a chrome finish to a black-painted one. The changes to the V variant will be applicable from May 2022.

The VX and ZX variants of the 5th-Gen City get, literally, the biggest change. Both the variants come standard with 16-inch alloy wheels. However, going forward, you will have to switch to a steel wheel in case of a flat tyre. That is, because, from June 2022 onwards, the two variants will have to make do with a 15-inch steel spare wheel. In comparison, currently, they use a full-size spare wheel, i.e. 16-inch alloy wheel.

At the same time, the SV variant of the 4th-Gen Honda City will get a new infotainment unit. The change will be applicable from mid-May 2022.

All the changes made to the company’s product lineup also point toward cost-cutting measures. It is unlikely the changes made by Honda India to be the result of the global chip shortage.
