In earlier news, the Honda HR-V had been reportedly showcased to select dealerships in Delhi and we already knew that the SUV will be coming to Indian showrooms soon. The car is already available in the international market but no test mules of the car were spotted in India, until now. The Honda HR-V has been spied testing in camouflage and the 5-seater mid-sized SUV is expected to be launched in India around the festive season.
For India, Honda is expected to launch the new 2019 facelift model which is available in the international market and features a new front bumper design with a large air dam, faux skid plate and bumper-integrated horizontally mounted bar type LED fog lamps with chrome bezels, LED headlamp and LED daytime running lights with a sleek design which integrates with the chrome grille. The facelift also gets a new tailgate design, grey tinted LED tail lights for improved visibility and more.
The 2019 Honda HR-V comes with refreshed interiors with a leather and fabric combination upholstery, automatic climate control air-conditioning with a dual zone system offered on the higher variants. Other features includes active noise cancellation in the cabin, 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, three 12V power outlets, 60/40 split seats, illuminated steering wheel mounted controls, etc.
In terms of safety, the international-spec HR-V gets ABS with EBD and brake assist, collision mitigation braking system, forward collision warning system, lane departure warning, road departure mitigation, vehicle stability assist with traction control and more as active safety features. The car also features advanced front airbags, side curtain airbags with a rollover sensing system, 3-point seat belt on the front and rear seats, lower anchors and tethers for children (LATCH), etc.
In the international markets, the 2019 Honda HR-V is available in a 1.8-litre i-VTEC petrol engine with the maximum displacement of 1,799cc which develops 141 HP of power and 172.1 Nm of torque coupled to a CVT automatic gearbox and all-wheel-drive along with a front-wheel-drive option. For the Indian market, an optional 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel engine which produces 120 HP of power and 300 Nm of torque is expected to be offered. The diesel engine is likely to come with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
The exterior dimensions of the Honda HR-V measure in at 4359mm in length, 1772mm in width (excluding door mirrors), 1605mm in height and a wheelbase of 2610mm.
When launched, the Honda HR-V will rival the Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier and the upcoming Kia Seltos and MG Hector.
