We are aware that Honda first introduced the H-Smart technology in its bestselling Activa. Then the Activa 125 got it later as well. Now, as per reports, Honda Dio too will soon follow the same path and follow in those footsteps as well.
Very much like it did to the Activa, the H-Smart variant will add in keyless functionality and alloy wheels to the Dio.
The SmartFind feature will allow the rider to locate their vehicle by flashing all four indicators. Meanwhile, the SmartStart will enable the rider to start the scooter by just flipping the switch. Honda has equipped this switch where the key slot would normally be present.
The SmartUnlock feature also allows the rider to unlock the handlebar. In fact, it can also unlock the fuel filler cap and the under-seat storage unit with the use of the key fob. The SmartSafe feature gets the ability to shut off the keyless functionality of the fob. And thus locking the vehicle and aiding safety.
Talking of the engine and mechanicals. We do not find any changes in this department. And thus, Dio will continue to use the power unit. This is the same air-cooled, 109cc, single-cylinder engine that makes 7.8 HP and 9Nm.
Currently, the Honda Dio retails with a price tag of INR INR 68,625 for the standard variant. Meanwhile, for the top-spec DLX trim, customers have to sell out at almost INR 72,626 plus taxes. Thus, the H-Smart variant will command a small premium over the DLX. This is the case with the other two Honda scooters as well. When it does launch, the Dio H-Smart will become the most affordable scooter available with keyless functionality.
