Honda Cars India Limited has announced that the brand will continue to sell the 4th generation Honda City in the Indian market. The fourth-generation Honda City will be offered in the SV and V trims only in the manual transmission option, priced at INR 9,29,900 and INR 9,99,900. The brand will be selling both the 4th generation & the 5th generation City concurrently, offering a wider choice to the customers.
The 4th generation model will only be available in the BS6 emission-compliant 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine that produces 119 PS of power and 145 Nm of torque coupled to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The brand is not offering the 1.5-litre i-DTEC option on the 4th generation model, which is available on the 5th generation City.
The powertrain on the 5th generation car has been upgraded with the new EARTH DREAMS TECHNOLOGY powertrain with DOHC instead of the SOHC predecessor and a new Variable Valve Timing Control system that has improved the vehicles NVH levels as well as the low-end grunt. The 1.5-litre i-VTEC DOHC petrol engine produces 121 PS of power and 145 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed manual gearbox and a new 7-step CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) automatic. In the diesel powertrain offering the City is available with the 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine that produces 100 PS of power and 200 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed manual transmission.
The 4th generation Honda City was refreshed back in 2017 and the car features a chrome grille with black mesh on the radiator intake, LED headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lights, geometrical front bumper, flared wheel arches, 15-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, chrome-finished door handles and interior highlights such as automatic climate control, 3-ring-combi instrumentation console with Eco assist function and touchscreen infotainment system.
The brand has cumulatively sold over 3.5 lakh units since its launch in January 2014 in India.
