Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India have started a road safety awareness drive in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. This was a three-day with dates from 26th to 28th July 2022. As a part of this 3-day event, the aim is to re-emphasise the need for road safety awareness among citizens. This event set at Gaya Singh Private Industrial Training Institute, Kanhaiya Singh Mahila Mahavidyalaya and KC Kashi Public School in Varanasi and attracted large participation.
Honda also mentioned that a total of over 1900 school & college students and staff members took part in this event. Honda has been conducting such road safety camps across the country at regular intervals. These safety learning programs also aim to enhance the retention of road safety awareness among all.
Honda used the Scientifically Devised Learning Module to lay down the foundation with theory sessions. Topics included road signs & markings, driver’s duties on the road, riding gear and posture explanation and safe riding etiquettes. Furthermore, there was also an interactive session wherein students aged 5 to 10 years of age learnt about the do’s and don’ts while commuting on a school bus and cycling. For 11 and 12 years olds, Honda used the practical approach. As a part of this, the children learnt about how to ride their bicycles safely, their duties as a pillion on a two-wheeler and also the importance of safety gear on roads.
To make the learning exciting, the kids also got the chance to get a hands-on learning experience on the specially imported CRF50 motorcycles. For the existing riders, i.c.e. staff members and college students, in this case, Honda tested and honed their riding skills. This was done through theoretical as well as practical training on a two-wheeler. To maximise participation, Honda also conducted fun educational activities like road safety games and quizzes on a daily basis.
